CVS Store Guide

CVS Corporate Coupon Policy
To see the CVS Corporate Coupon Policy, go here. CVS has a ton of guidelines so I would strongly suggest getting well acquainted with their coupon policy. As always, I recommend you print out the coupon policy in case you come across any issues at checkout.

Getting Started...
One of the first things you should do before heading to CVS to shop, is to sign up for an Extra Care card. If you already have an Extra Care card, then skip this step. You can sign up in store or online here. It's FREE! Having an Extra Care card will allow you to get all of the sale prices and promotional Extra Care Bucks. Always make sure the cashier scans your card before scanning any items you are purchasing to make sure you get the correct sale prices and/or Extra Care Bucks.

Extra Care Program
Extra Care Bucks, also known as ECBs, are CVS rewards you can earn when you buy certain items. Extra Care Bucks are basically CVS cash to use in store on future purchases. The Extra Care Bucks will come in the form of a coupon at the end of your receipt. Every week, there will be Extra Care Buck promotions advertised in the weekly ad. Below is an example of what an Extra Care Buck promotion will be advertised like:

Another benefit of having an Extra Care card is that you will earn 2% cash back in the form of Extra Care Bucks on every purchase you make in-store or online. Every three months these Extra Care Bucks will print out at the end of your receipt. You can also earn $1 Extra Care Buck for every 2 prescriptions purchased in-store or online.

CVS Coupons
There are several ways you can score CVS coupons:

  • CVS Coupon Machine: One of the most common ways to receive CVS coupons is by scanning your Extra Care card at the CVS coupon machine inside CVS. Every week, the coupon machine will have different coupons available.
  • Extra Care Email Coupons: If you've signed up (sign up here) for Extra Care emails, you will occasionally receive threshold coupons that you can use before any manufacturer coupons. These threshold coupons will vary by person. For example, some people might receive a $5 off a $25 purchase CVS coupon; others might receive a $4 off a $20 purchase CVS coupon.
  • Receipt Coupons: Be sure to check your receipt whenever you shop at CVS. You may receive a few CVS coupons at the end of your receipts.
  • CVS Coupon Site: Occasionally, you may find CVS store coupons on their coupon site.

How to Shop + Save at CVS

  • You can use one manufacturer coupon and one CVS coupon per item purchased.
  • Unlike Walgreens and Rite Aid, you CAN use two coupons on a Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale.
  • When there is a promotion where you have to spend a certain amount of money to get  back an Extra Care Buck, the amount of money you have to spend is counted before you use any coupons.
  • You can still earn Extra Care Bucks when you use manufacturer + CVS store coupons.
  • You can roll Extra Care Bucks from a previous purchase into a new purchase. You will still earn the Extra Care Bucks in your current transaction, even though you are using Extra Care Bucks from a previous one.
  • When there is an Extra Buck deal that requires you to spend a certain amount of money on certain products, you don't necessarily have to spend that amount. CVS has what we couponers like to call, a 98% rule. This means if you come 98% towards the total amount needed to produce an Extra Care Buck, you will still get your Extra Care Buck. For example, if you have to spend $15 on a certain item and you come out to at least $14.70, you will still get your Extra Care Buck back.
  • To lower your out-of-pocket expense, you may want to constantly roll your Extra Care Bucks into a new Extra Care Buck transaction, every week or so.
  • Keep in mind, that there are specified limits on Extra Care Buck promotions.

CVS Advisor Panel
If you regularly shop at CVS, be sure to sign up for their free program called the CVS Advisor Panel. Sign up here to become a member of the panel. CVS will then email you online surveys and research studies throughout the year to gather your input on CVS stores, products and services. When you complete surveys, you will receive printable Extra Care Bucks typically valued from $5- $15!

CVS Beauty Club Program

Another thing to keep in mind if you shop regularly at CVS, is their Beauty Club Program. You can sign up here (it's free). Basically, every time you purchase $50 worth of beauty products including skin care, cosmetics, hair care and more, you'll receive a $5 ECB through email and/or at the CVS coupon center. The $50 you must spend is considered before coupons so it is very easy to get up to that $50 mark. Another perk of being apart of the Beauty Club Program is that you get a $3 Extra Care Buck on your birthday! Go here for more details about the program.
