Coupon Jargon



Attention coupon newbies! I've compiled a brief list of coupon jargon or abbreviations for those of you who are new to following coupon blogs. Keep in mind that everyone is different, and therefore sometimes use different abbreviations. Here is a list of some of the most common coupon jargon:

Sunday Newspaper Inserts:

  • PG= Proctor and Gamble
  • RP= Red Plum
  • SS= Smart Source
CVS & Walgreens Abbreviations:
  • RR= Register Reward (Walgreens)
  • BR or BRP= Balance Rewards or Balance Reward Points (Walgreens)
  • IVC= Instant Value Coupon also referred to as Monthly Savings Booklet (Walgreens)
  • ECB= Extra Care Bucks (CVS)
Other Abbreviations:
  • BOGO or B1G1= Buy One, Get One Free
  • B2G1= Buy Two, Get One Free
  • DND= Do Not Double
  • EX or X= Expires On
  • GC= Gift Card
  • HTH= Hope That Helps
  • IP= Internet Printable Coupon
  • MC or MQ= Manufacturer's Coupon
  • MIR= Mail In Rebate
  • OOP= Out Of Pocket (referring to out of pocket expense)
  • TMF= Try Me Free Offer
  • UPC= Universal Product Code
  • WYB= When You Buy
  • Stacking= combining different offers (i.e. combining a manufacturer's coupon with a store coupon)
